Welcome to our Frequently Asked Questions
Below you will find our answers to the most common questions we get.
If you have any other questions, please give us a call on 02 9869 2572 during business hours or email to info@healthsq.com.au.
What should I expect on my initial visit? How long will it take?
During your initial visit, our physiotherapists will conduct a thorough assessment and reproducible examination prior to treatment to ensure a detailed understanding of your condition. The physiotherapist will establish a personalised treatment plan based on the results of your assessment for effective recovery.
Your first consultation will usually take around 30-45 minutes.
What should I bring to my initial appointment?
Please bring along any relevant reports such as doctor’s forms, X-rays, MRIs as these will be helpful in allowing our physiotherapists to understand your condition and provide the best treatment for you.
- Please wear comfortable or loose-fitting clothing.
- If you are claiming a rebate from Medicare, please bring your Medicare card.
- If you are claiming a rebate from a Private Health Fund, please bring your health fund card.
What should I wear?
It is alright to wear your normal clothes however depending on the area of injury, it will be beneficial to wear loose, comfortable clothing that don’t restrict your movement and allow the physiotherapist to view the injury site. Our physiotherapists will always be aware of personal cultural and religious values. If you are attending our class, please bring a bottle of water and comfortable shoes.
Do I need a referral to make an appointment?
No. A referral is not required to see our physiotherapists. However, it is essential for claiming treatments under Medicare (EPC), Work Cover, Motor Vehicle Accident Injury (CTP) or Department of Veterans Affairs (DVA).
How many treatments do I need? How often do I need to come for treatments?
The number of treatments required is unique to each person and will depend on the presented condition. Our physiotherapists will give you a general timeline for the course of treatment on the initial visit. Some people may require only a few treatment sessions whilst others might require more extensive treatments spanning weeks or months for recovery.
Do you send out Appointment Reminders?
Yes, we do. Our practice system automatically sends out text messages TWO DAYS prior to the appointment date with a link to CONFIRM or REJECT the appointment.
If no response is recorded, an additional text message will be sent ONE DAY prior to the appointment to remind you of your appointment.
Should you wish to reschedule or cancel the appointment, please contact us on 02 9869 2572 or email us at info@healthsq.com.au
Do you have a Cancellation Policy?
Yes, we do. We require the courtesy of at least 24-hours to reschedule or cancel an appointment. This allows sufficient time to contact people on our waiting list who need to be seen urgently.
- Missed/forgotten appointments will be charged at 100% of the consultation
- Late cancellation will be charged at 50% of the consultation
We value you as a client and appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
Is there parking available?
Yes, there is 1P Street parking available along Pembroke Street.
Can I claim through my private health insurance?
Yes. We have the HICAPS system available, which allows for on-the-spot claiming and you only have to pay the gap. Please note that rebate amounts will vary between each insurance company. For enquiries regarding coverage, please contact your health fund.
Are Physiotherapy sessions covered by Medicare?
Yes. Medicare will cover $56 for up to 5 treatment sessions within a calendar year (January 01-December 31) for those who have a referral from their General Practitioner under an Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) Plan.
Please check your eligibility for this plan with your General Practitioner as they are only available to those presenting with complex and chronic conditions.

If you do not have this information available by the time of consultation, you will be billed privately.
How do you claim the group classes with Private Health Insurance?
This is a general guide as each health fund has different levels of cover and the claiming process may vary. We are unable to provide details on the rebate amount so please contact your health insurance directly for more information on “Group Physiotherapy Consultations”.
Our classes can be classified as Group Physiotherapy Consultation (Code 560) as they meet the following criteria:
- A pre-intervention assessment is conducted with a Physiotherapist (Your initial assessment)
- The class program is tailored to individual needs
- Clinical record keeping is maintained (Our staff record notes at each session)
- The session is designed and led by a Physiotherapist
- A re-assessment occurs regularly based on the physiotherapist’s clinical judgement.
If you purchase a multi-visit pass you must wait until you have used the sessions before making a claim, you cannot claim the rebate before you receive the service.
Our reception team will provide you with a receipt after each session which you can use to claim with your private health insurer. You will need the date of service, the cost and the provider number of the Practitioner.
For more information please speak with one of our friendly reception team or call us on 02 9869 2572.
